The purpose of the EcoBusinessPlan is to help enterprises generate "green
and clean" profits through ecological management practices that benefit
both the environment and the enterprises, ensuring high quality and financial
benefits in each company.
5 Programme modules are offered and supported, depending on the size of
the enterprises and the industry branch. Networking and cooperation among
all partners helps to create a win-win situation for the environment and
for businesses in Vienna. The EcoBusinessPlan supports the environment while
at the same time contributing to economic stability and job creation.
The UN Habitat has included the EcoBusinessPlan Vienna in its „Best Practices“-
Database which lists the best sustainability projects worldwide. It is also
used as a model and reference for other destinations implementing such a programme.

Module EcoQuality Label for Tourism |

The EcoQuality Label for Tourism is one of the
modules of the EcoBusinessPlan Vienna and is a national environmental programme
that has been specifically designed for tourism and the hospitality industry.
The award is valid for four years; a repeating application is possible afterwards.
Action is taken mainly in the areas of solid waste, waste water, energy
efficiency, ecological purchasing and ecological cleaning. There is a catalogue
of basic criteria that can be adapted to take into account individualised
measures as well.
Examples include the use of non-polluting cleaning agents, state-of-the
art heating control systems and optimum regimes for waste prevention and
waste separation. These measures are environmentally supportive and help
to cut operating expenses while ensuring equal, or even better, quality
of service.
The programme is open to all enterprises of Vienna's hospitality industry,
from simple pubs to five-star restaurants, from cafés to wineries, from
small-sized city hotels to the large facilities of international hotel chains.
The enterprises receive a supported environmental service pack (external
consulting, environmental law check, the possibility to get awarded in the
context of the EcoBusinessPlan). |
